Mothering, Yearning: A Response to A Story By Reb Nachmun
Exile and return are hardwired into our tradition.
Rabbi David Ingber
When once I was
a doorway
two in one
becoming two
verb and the noun
pain and ecstasy
body and beyond
love boundless and bounded
for these moments
I dwelled on the mountain of gold
in the castle of pearls
was everywoman humbly ever
giving receiving birth
before I fell asleep woke
fell asleep while my children became
adults seeking and longing
and so here I am again
holding my purse
filled with my belonging
a story calling from
the threshold
return return
