May You Be Engraved
I write myself
once again
into the book of life
sky a page
river a page
muddied earth
and body a page.
I write myself
as I am written
by wondrous
communities
of cells, bacteria, networks
of fungal knowing
prayers of the ancestors.
I became
and become,
persist and will
return with this turning
of planet, species,
sound, yearning.
You and I
we are the books
we will never finish reading
but live, revealing
concealing,
disintegrating
into the vast library
of what is.
Today I forgive
what I never
embodied
resuming
the pilgrimage
that is my beginning
my unknowing,
a temporary page
of an endless
scroll.
Dear Elana, i love the final stanza, the self forgiveness, the beginning, again, the perseverence, the acknowledging of our temporary page in an endless scroll.
