Vayikra: The Serving Women Are Called
And he made the laver of coper, and the base of copper, of the mirrors of the serving women that did service
at the door of the tent of meeting. Exodus 38:8
We arrive
the women
who serve
Sacred Presence
moved by our hearts
freely offering
our attendance
at the sacred mouth
of the Mishkan -
our mirrors
melted to
become the vessel
and stand
holding
the cleansing
waters of our mother
Miriam. May all
those who enter
on behalf of us all
be purified from
our narrowed
reflections of self,
melting into the wider vision
that sees into the root
of the word for copper,
the concealed energies
of snake, She
who has taken us before
from unity to separation
and now is willing
to lead us back
over this threshold.
We the daughters of Aaron,
grand-daughters
of Serach, Miriam,
Yocheved,
inheritors of the
path of the seven women
prophets and all
un-named
but not
forgotten women
who arrive
in and out of time
with our yearning,
our willingness to
offer our
gifts
we speak
we receive
we belong.
I love the images here of ‘our mirrors becoming vessel holding the sacred waters…….’ and being led back into unity after separation. will I speak? will I receive? will I belong?
thankyou Elana and thankyou again.
